Student nominees must have contributed a substantial amount of time, effort, and creativity, and have a minimum GPA of 2.5.

Nominees must have exhibited an exceptional contribution to a humanitarian need.

President's Volunteer Service Award - given to the student(s) whose service substantially addresses a need in the community. The student must be involved in the creation of a new project or service initiative to address particular need(s). The awardee(s) should demonstrate the highest level of dedication and selfless commitment to their volunteer service and should have accumulated a minimum of 100 hours of service in any involvement in the past year.

Activities Honorary Society (AHS) nomination - For the third year in a row, we are collaborating with the University of Illinois Alumni Association (UIAA) to recognize new inductees into the Activities Honorary Society (AHS), undergraduate students whose participation in a variety of student organizations on campus has contributed to a better UIC community. AHS nominations will be reviewed separately from CSSLA nominations, by past AHS inductees, and with the guidance of the UIAA.

All students selected to be honored at the Chancellor’s Student Service and Leadership Awards program will receive the Chancellor’s Student Service Award (CSSA) recognition. The Eugertha Bates Memorial Award and the Presidential Volunteer Service Award are given to the few most deserving students as chosen by a selection committee.
